Finished this about 2 hours ago. My reference photo is at the lower right. Adorable, but not a great shot — a bit blurry, quite dim, and the lens distorted his ears, nose, and size of head relative to neck and body. But this horse, a Shire stallion, is no longer with us, so I worked with what I had. I do this a lot for clients whose animals have passed away.

Lower left is the portrait in progress, and you can see some of the corrections I made. Finished piece is 11 x 8”, pencils, watercolor, pastels and touches of white acrylic on kraft colored cotton rag paper.
